Description
Allerton Head Farmhouse and its attached outbuildings are a farmhouse and byre/stable ranges dating from the late 18th century or very early 19th century. The house was raised and extended from an earlier single-storey building from the 18th century. The older parts and the outbuilding ranges are made of coursed squared sandstone, while the upper and right parts of the house feature larger herringbone-tooled sandstone. The roofs are covered with pantiles, complete with stone ridges, copings, and kneelers, and there are rebuilt brick stacks.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two bays. It features an off-centre top-glazed five-panel door with a low overlight, flanked by three-light small-paned 20th-century casements. The first floor has 20th-century panes and fixed lights with a top opening section. The building includes block kneelers and end chimneys, as well as a rear lean-to. The one-storey L-shaped stable-byre range runs to the north and west and includes stable doors and clay ridge vent pipes, along with a cast door at the outer west end.
