Description
Briscoe Farmhouse is a Grade II listed farmhouse, which was formerly two dwellings. It consists of three sections, with the main house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. There is a pent extension on the left and a slightly later rear wing, which has a back wall that was rebuilt in the mid to late 13th century. The front of the building features finely-coursed, regular herringbone-tooled sandstone in a pleasing pink color, while the rear wall of the wing is rock-faced. The roof is pantiled with a tiled ridge, stone copings, and kneelers, along with brick chimneys.
The main house is T-shaped and has two storeys with two windows facing the road. It features 16-pane sash windows set in chamfered reveals with projecting cills. The gable copings are ridged on block kneelers to the right, with a moulded kneeler on the left and a chimney at the left end. The right side of the house displays a top-glazed six-panel door, a 20th-century stair window with a top opening section, and a blocked stone cross window in the attic, all within chamfered reveals.
The rear wing includes three-light small-paned 20th-century casements with projecting cills, and there are chimneys at both the end and the junction. The left side of the lean-to shows a boarded door and a fixed-light cross window. Additionally, there are late 19th-century sashes at the rear of the wing, along with a central glazed door.
