Description
Biggin House Farmhouse and the attached outbuilding are a house and stable dating from the early to mid-18th century. They are constructed from finely-coursed, lightly-tooled sandstone and feature a pantiled roof with a stone ridge, copings, kneelers, and stacks. The main house is two storeys high with two wide bays and is set back from the right, where there is a downhouse or kitchen that has one storey and an attic, consisting of two bays. There is also a stable that is one storey with a loft, extending three bays beyond the kitchen; the left bay of the stable has been incorporated into the house.
The kitchen has a half-glazed door on the left, positioned in the hearth passage, and to the right is a modern casement window with another door beyond it. There are three raking dormers, each with two-light casements. The main house features two 3-light small-paned 20th-century casements on each floor, with those on the ground floor positioned under extended lintels that have tall, projecting keystones. The house has end chimneys and block kneelers, with a chimney located at the right end of the downhouse.
There is a one-storey left extension that is concealed by a greenhouse, which is not of special interest. The stable has a loft door, but its ground floor is obscured by a projecting lean-to that is also not of special interest.
