Description

Hall Farmhouse and the attached outbuilding date back to the 18th century and are located on the east side of The Village in Carlton. The farmhouse and stable/byre consist of two sections, with the left section being larger and possibly older. The exterior is made of coursed squared stone, and the roof has been replaced with large 20th-century pantiles, featuring stone copings and kneelers, as well as brick and stone chimneys.

The building is two storeys high and has four bays, with the two left bays being wider. In the third bay, there is a boarded door beneath a flush, keyed lintel. The ground floor features large Yorkshire sash windows, with one under a keyed lintel on the right and the other in slightly lengthened chamfered reveals on the left. The first floor has smaller Yorkshire sash windows, with those on the left set in chamfered surrounds that show traces of lost mullions.

There is a one-storey outhouse extension on the left, and the left side has corniced stone stacks, while the ends of the right part have old brick stacks. The front has curved kneelers, and the back has square kneelers. A small fire window is present in the right gable end. The long one-storey right outbuilding has a boarded door and small 20th-century windows, along with a gabled rear stair wing that has a lean-to in the angle.

Inside, the farmhouse features heavy transverse beams and a mix of two-panel and six-panel doors.
