Description
Carlton House Cottage is a Grade II listed building located in Carlton Village. It dates from the early 19th century and incorporates a former stable range of Carlton House. The cottage is constructed from large herringbone-tooled sandstone, which has been colour-washed, and features dressings. The roof is pantiled with a stone ridge, copings, kneelers, and stacks.
The cottage is two storeys high and has six bays in total. The right bay includes a large segmental-arched carriage entrance with cut voussoirs, a boarded door, and a round window above. The next three bays form a symmetrical arrangement with a central renewed six-panel door. This is flanked by modern three-light casements, with two-light stone-mullioned casements above and a single light over the door. The two left bays are irregular, featuring one large three-light modern casement below and two two-light mullioned windows with small-paned casements above. The rear elevations have been modernised. The building is included for its group value.
