Description

Ruthwaite Cottage and an adjoining barn date from the early 18th century. The cottage is now a house. The building has painted roughcast walls topped by a graduated greenslate roof, with painted brick and roughcast chimney stacks. It is two storeys high, with two bays, and an adjoining barn to the right, partly under a common roof. A 20th-century door is set in a painted architrave. The windows are sash windows; those on the upper floor have glazing bars, all set in painted stone surrounds. The barn extends behind extensions flanking a large cart entrance. An extension to the left has a hipped slate roof and a casement window in a stone surround. A gabled extension to the right features a side plank door and a loft door above.
