Description
Mains Hall is a house dating from the late 17th century. It features roughcast over coursed limestone and is topped with a graduated greenslate roof that has a coped gable on the right side. The building has roughcast chimney stacks and stands two storeys high with three bays. The entrance includes a four-panel door set within a painted architrave, which has an oval panel above; however, any inscription on this panel has been obscured by the roughcast. The door surround is adorned with two carved masks. On the ground floor, there are two-light chamfered stone-mullioned windows and a small fire window located on the left. Inside, the hall boasts an inglenook with a heck partition, a firebeam, and recesses for salt and spice cupboards. The ceiling is made of wooden beams.
