Description
Dale View and Hemp Garth are two houses that were originally three, dating back to 1726, as indicated by the inscription over the doorway. The buildings feature roughcast walls topped with a graduated greenslate roof and have roughcast and yellow brick chimney stacks. They are two storeys high and consist of three bays each, with the central part originally being a two-bay house that is now part of Dale View.
Dale View has two 20th-century doors and sash windows set in 19th-century painted stone surrounds. The left part of the building includes two plank doors in chamfered surrounds, one of which has a dated and inscribed lintel. There are sash windows with glazing bars in 20th-century cement surrounds that cover the original surrounds, and a small fire window is located to the left of the second doorway.
Hemp Garth features a 20th-century door in a painted stone surround, situated within a 20th-century roughcast porch. The windows here are 20th-century casements set in 18th-century painted chamfered surrounds. An extension to the left and rear of Hemp Garth is not of interest.
