Description
Hunters Lodge, formerly known as South View, is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone and features a Westmorland slate roof. The building stands two storeys high and has three bays, with quoins at the corners. The central doorway has been altered to include a 20th-century small-pane fixed window, and it features an incised lintel. The house has 16-pane sash windows that are topped with channelled lintels and have stone sills. There is a round window with a plain surround located under the eaves at the center. The gables are adorned with shaped kneelers, ashlar gable coping, and corniced end stacks. On either side of the main house, there are possibly original single-storey bays that have side-sliding sash windows and lean-to roofs.
