Description
Beeboles and garden wall behind Park Side are likely from the 18th century and were restored in the late 20th century. They are constructed from sandstone and magnesian limestone. The wall stands about 1.5 metres high and stretches approximately 8 metres long. The boles consist of a row of 8 square recesses, each around 60 centimetres wide and 30 centimetres deep. The lintels and divisions between the boles are made of sawn stone blocks, with projecting stone sills. These boles were originally designed to hold straw or reed skep hives, which were replaced by free-standing frame hives in the mid 19th century.
