Description

Hilltop House is a house dating to 1796, with later additions. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone, with a right-hand extension built in grey gritstone. The roof is slate. The house is two storeys and two bays, with a single-storey, one-bay extension to the right. Quoins feature on the front of the house. The central doorway has a classical surround, but the door itself is 20th century. There are 16-pane sash windows with flush wood architraves, channelled lintels, and stone sills throughout. A window to the left of the door is positioned where the original entrance was blocked. The date 1796 is carved into the lintel. The house has shaped kneelers, an ashlar coping, and end stacks with a projecting band.
