Description

Barn Cottage and attached barn, dating from the late 18th century and early 19th century, with minor later additions and alterations. The cottage is constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble with ironstone banding, while the barn has a slate roof and corrugated iron roof. The barn is a three-bay structure from the late 18th century, with an earlier 19th-century cottage attached to its left, the right room of which is incorporated into the barn's left bay.

The cottage is two storeys high and has small 19th-century casement windows with wood lintels on each floor, positioned to the left and right of a roughly central boarded door. The door is sheltered by an open gabled timber porch. An end stack is located on the left side with a purple engineering brick shaft. A low rubble stone extension attached to the left gable end features an integral end stack; the front was rebuilt in the late 19th century using red brick. The barn has wide entrances with wood lintels in the centre, along with triangular air vents. A low rubble stone extension is attached to the right gable end.

Inside the barn, the roof is a collar and tie beam structure in three bays and features double butt-purlins, with a loft above.
