FIFIELD THE GREEN SP2418-2518 (East side) 19/97 Nos. 1 and 2

GV II

Pair of cottages or house, now divided. Probably late C17 or early C18 with later additions and alterations. Roughly coursed limestone and ironstone rubble; concrete tile roof. One storey and attic. Irregular fenestration; early and mid-C20 casements with wood lintels, including to 3 gabled half-dormers to centre, 3 to ground floor, right with concrete lintel. Small windows to far left, to right of 3-light casement with concrete lintel and to far right, 2 former with concrete lintels. Boarded door with concrete lintel to left has infilled doorway to right. Red brick ridge stacks to centre, right of centre and to left at junction with slightly lower range. Illegible datestone to left gabled half-dormer. Right gable end has chamfered 3-light mullion window on each floor (lower with large lights) with dripstones but without label-stops. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (August 1987) but likely to be of interest. [2541]
