Description

Corner Cottage, together with Nutshell and Yan Yak, represents an early 19th-century brewery, now converted into three cottages. The building is constructed of pebble-dashed slate rubble walls with a greenslate roof, and features rebuilt brick chimney stacks. It comprises two builds: a two-bay section (Corner Cottage) on the left and a three-bay section (Nutshell and Yan Yak) on the right. There is a high basement level. Parallel stone steps lead to doors within three tall, solid pent porches; the porch to Corner Cottage is whitewashed, Nutshell’s has a 20th-century casement window, and Yan Yak’s has a small fixed light with glazing bars, along with a basement door. A further basement door is present in the front wall. Sash windows with glazing bars are set within raised stone surrounds.
