Description

Willowbank Cottage, located at 19 Cramond Brig Toll in Edinburgh, dates from the 18th to 19th centuries. It was originally two irregularly terraced cottages that have now been combined into one. The building is single storey and has a basement at the front, with two storeys at the rear. The exterior is harled with stone margins.

The south elevation features a three-bay west cottage, which includes steps leading to a modern timber door at the center, flanked by windows in gablet dormer heads. There is a single basement window to the right. The four-bay east cottage has a glazed timber door in the penultimate bay to the right, with irregularly spaced windows, including one in the outer left bay.

On the east gable, there is a small window to the left at ground level, accompanied by a large buttress rising from the ground to the basement on the right.

The north elevation shows the west cottage with a large modern window to the right of center on the principal floor, and a door at the center of the basement floor, flanked by stone-mullioned bipartite windows. The three-bay east cottage has regular fenestration in both the principal and basement floors, with windows at the principal floor hugging the eaves.

The west gable is blank. The building predominantly features four-pane timber sash and case windows and has a graded purple and grey slate roof. The ridge and gablehead stacks are harled and coped, with circular cans, and it has cast-iron rainwater goods.

The property is enclosed by a low rubble boundary wall that is coped.
