Description
The stable building located at the rear of Nutshell and Corner Cottage dates from the early 19th century. It features slate rubble walls with flush quoins and is topped by a graduated greenslate roof that includes a brick chimney stack. The structure consists of two builds, with the stable and hayloft rising to two tall storeys and comprising four bays, along with a right lower two-bay extension.
At each end of the building, there are segmental-arched cart entrances with boarded doors set beneath brick arches. The stable also has two loading doors positioned at different levels, along with a small opening beneath the right-hand loading door. The extension includes three boarded doors situated beneath sash windows that have glazing bars. The central door and window are framed by raised stone surrounds, while the other openings have plain reveals. This building is listed for its group value with Corner Cottage, Nutshell, and Yan Yak.
