Description
The summerhouse at Lorton Park, built around 1830, is a single-storey structure with an octagonal plan. It is constructed of yellow stock brick with a red brick eaves band and features a lead roof topped with a copper finial. Each of the eight faces has a window, and the corners are supported by projecting buttresses. The windows have pointed heads and are clear glazed above a small paned light arrangement of 4 x 3. The door consists of two panels topped by an interlace band and is framed with an architrave surround. The summerhouse has projecting timber eaves and an ogee roof with a ball finial.
Inside, there is a brick floor, fixed benches, and a central table. The roof is made of shaped rafters and close boarding. While the windows appear new, they contain old glass, and it is noted that the roof was removed in the early 1970s.
