Description

The smoke house located north of Lorton Park is an early 19th-century structure. It features walls made of slate rubble and cobbles, with sandstone dressings. This small, single-storey building is circular in shape. It has a doorway with brick reveals and a stone lintel. The building is topped with modillioned battlements, which are partly in ruin. Locally known as the smoke house, it is believed to have been used for smoking fish and ham.
