Description

This milestone is located on a lane that was once part of the A66 Penrith-Keswick road, which has since been cut off by a new section. It is likely from the early 19th century and is made of dressed slate with a cast iron panel. The upright slab has an ogival top, and the panel features lettering that reads: "PENRITH/ 11 MILES/KESWICK/7 MILES".
