Description
This milestone, dating from the early 19th century, is located outside Close Farmhouse and was originally part of the Cockermouth-Keswick Turnpike. It is made of whitewashed slate and features a shaped top. The front has a cast iron plate inscribed with the distances to Cockermouth (4 miles) and Keswick (9 miles), with the lettering highlighted in black.
