Description

Wythop Mill Cottage and Stables is a mid-17th century house with former stables, altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The walls are roughcast over rubble, with a graduated greenslate roof and brick and roughcast chimney stacks. The two-storey, two-bay cottage has a former stable to the left, all under a common roof. A plank door leads to the front, alongside sash and casement windows; the casements have single opening panes set in plain reveals. The stable has a plank door and a small 20th-century window. The rear features small casement windows and a firewindow in original plain reveals. Inside, a built-in panelled bread cupboard is dated and inscribed JMA 1674. The ground floor has beamed ceilings.
