Description
Wallthwaite is a farmhouse built in the early 18th century, with a later addition. It is constructed from stone rubble with ashlar dressings and has a slate roof. The building has two storeys and four bays, with the first two bays likely added later. The windows in the first two bays are sashed with vertical glazing bars and horns, although the ground floor window has been replaced with a 20th-century casement. The windows in the third and fourth bays are smaller paired sashes, some featuring a small moulding around them, while others have been replaced with casements; there is also a fire window in the third bay. The entrance is located in the first bay, with another entrance between the third and fourth bays, both featuring a gabled porch that incorporates the date 1720, although this is likely a later addition. The house has gable-end stacks and a cross-axial stack. At the rear, there are two gabled wings flanking a lean-to outshut, and a garage door has been inserted into the wing on the right. Inside, there is an early 18th-century fielded-panel partition with a three-panel door, a small plain spice cupboard, and a plastered heck partition wall.
