Description
Stoneraise is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It features painted roughcast walls beneath a graduated greenslate roof, topped with 19th-century brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has four bays, with a former stable located to the right under a common roof.
The two-storey gabled porch includes a round arch with a casement window above, barred side windows, and internal stone seats. On the ground floor, there are three-light 20th-century windows and sash windows in enlarged openings. Above, large Yorkshire sash windows with glazing bars are also set in enlarged openings. A plank door with a wooden surround is positioned at the extreme left, while the former stable features a 20th-century sliding plank door.
Inside, the farmhouse has a beamed kitchen ceiling and an inglenook fireplace with a heck partition. There is a built-in semicircular stone stair at the rear, and late 17th-century panelling can be found in one of the bedrooms. The large square ridge chimney stacks, staircase, and porch all suggest a mid-17th-century origin. An adjoining barn to the left is listed separately.
