Description
This is a barn located east of Birkettfield, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed from a mix of slate and cobble rubble, topped with a graduated greenslate roof. The barn is designed as a two-storey bank barn. A large central cart entrance is accessed by a ramp, with an open shippon on the left supported by circular rubble piers, and an enclosed stone shippon on the right. There are slit vents under the eaves and at the rear of the building. Various carved initials and dates from the early 19th century can be found on the shippon and cart doors. The barn is listed partly for its group value with Birkettfield.
