Description

The Retreat is a detached house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of irregularly bonded red brick and features a stone slate roof with brick stacks. The building has a rectangular plan and includes a later extension at the rear with a catslide roof. The facade is symmetrical with three storeys and three windows. The ground floor has sliding sash windows, the first floor has three-light casements, and the upper floor has small sliding sashes. A central fielded six-panel door is set within a flat-roofed latticework porch. All windows are topped with gauged and rubbed brickwork heads, and there are gable-end stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
