Description

Willow Farm is a detached cottage dating back to the 16th century, with extensions added around 1900 and 1970. The original part of the cottage has square-panelled timber framing with a rendered infill and a high rendered plinth. A 19th-century extension is built of painted brick and includes imitation timber framing on the road-facing side. The 20th-century extension is rendered, with a mixed roof of concrete tile, red tile, slate, and stone slate. The original section has a rectangular three-bay plan and a gable end facing the road. The 19th-century extension is set back at a right angle to the left, and the 20th-century extension is attached to the south gable end of the original building. The earlier range is one-and-a-half storeys high, the 19th-century range is two storeys high, and the 20th-century range is one-and-a-half storeys high. The front of the cottage, facing the road, features the projecting gable end of the original range on the right. It has a 20th-century two-light wooden casement window on both the ground and first floors. The 19th-century range includes single-light, two-light, and three-light wooden casements with diamond leaded panes. A 20th-century studded plank door has a single glazed pane at the top. An axial stack is present. Inside, the original section displays intersecting beams with deep, flat chamfers, where the transverse beams are narrower than the axial beams. Much of the second frame from the north remains exposed, revealing close studding, which was likely originally filled with wattle and daub.
