Description
Tadleys is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one dwelling, dating from the early to mid-17th century. The building features square-panelled timber-framing with rendered and painted brick infill, while the gable ends are constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone. It has a red tile roof and brick stacks, which likely replaced original limestone rubble or ashlar stacks. The structure has a rectangular plan and stands at one and a half storeys.
The ground floor includes 20th-century single-light casements and three 2-light casements with leaded panes. There are two plank doors fitted with thumb latches and door knockers, along with a 2-light eaves dormer featuring a 20th-century metal casement. The building has a projecting gable-end and an axial stack. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a bressumer beam, a spine beam with moulded stops, and a timber-framed partition wall. This property is part of the Witcombe Estate.
