Description

Poplar Farmhouse is a former barn that has been converted for domestic use, dating from the 17th century. The building features square-panelled timber framing with rendered and painted brick infill, along with some weather-boarding. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone and has a thatched roof with decorative ridge thatching. The farmhouse has a rectangular plan and is one and a half storeys high. The front facing the road includes a stone section on the left with two 20th-century two-light casement windows, while the timber-framed section has six two-light casements and one single-light casement. The gable ends are half-hipped. There is a 20th-century stone-built range linked to the former barn via a weather-boarded extension, which is not of special interest. The interior has not been inspected.
