Description
148 and 149 High Street are a pair of houses that also have shops, dating from the early 19th century. They feature a front made of Flemish bond brickwork and a tiled roof. The buildings are three storeys high and have a two plus two window arrangement. The large 16-pane sash windows are set beneath brick arches and have stone sills, although they are concealed at the first floor by a lead apron that extends to the fascia cornice. The 20th-century shop fronts include a moulded cornice that spans the full width, reflecting a 19th-century style. The front is plain and topped with a coped parapet. The interior has not been inspected. These buildings are included for their group value.
