Description
No. 152 High Street is a narrow-frontage house that includes a shop, dating from the late 18th century but built on earlier structures. It features Flemish bond brickwork, a tile roof, and a brick stack. The building is a tall four-storey structure with a one-windowed front. The upper section has a 9-pane sash window set in a shaped gable, while the lower part displays a tripartite arrangement of 4:12:4-pane sashes. These windows are adorned with brick voussoirs, a fluted keystone, and a cornice, all resting on stone cills. The shop front, added in the 19th century, includes slender cast-iron colonnette-mullions with capitals and arched heads, a glazed door set back to the left under a transom light, and a deep fascia supported by console brackets. A brick stack is located on the right side. The interior has not been inspected, but the building is noted as a characteristic example of late 18th-century refacing.
