Description
58 and 60 High Street are two shops with dwellings, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed of Flemish-bond brick and feature stone coping on the parapet, a cornice, stepped voussoirs, and cills. The roofs are covered with double Roman tiles and have a brick stack on the left gable end. The buildings have a double-depth plan and are two storeys high with attics, with each shop having a one-window range. There are raking dormers, with a late 20th-century window on the right and a two-light casement window on the left. The ground floor has late 20th-century shop fronts. The first floor of No. 58 on the right has a late 20th-century window, while No. 60 on the left features a painted first floor with a dentilled cornice above a mid-19th century shallow canted oriel window that has a 6/6-pane sash at the front. The interior has not been inspected. The buildings are included for their group value.
