Description
Elim Pentecostal Church is a public house that has been converted into a shop. It underwent mid-19th century alterations of an earlier building. The exterior is finished in stucco with painted stone coping along the parapet, plain pilasters, a plinth, and raised surrounds with keystones around the openings. The roof is made of plain tiles and features brick stacks at the gable ends. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a four-window range. All openings have keyed and raised surrounds, with square heads, except for a semicircular arched window above the door. The door, which is slightly to the right of centre, includes an overlight and is topped by a 20th-century horned 2/2-pane sash window. A low-relief plaster galloping horse, the sign of a local brewer, is located where the parapet steps up, indicating that this was once a public house. The first-floor flanking windows are plate-glass sashes with margin panes; the left window has horns, and to the far left is a smaller plate-glass sash above a side door. The ground floor features 20th-century plate-glass shop windows, with two on the right and one on the left. The interior is noted for having cased beams from the earlier structure.
