Description

This is a chest tomb located about 4 meters west-north-west of the north-west pier of the porch in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. The earliest readable inscription dates back to 1762. The tomb is made of limestone and features a flat top with a moulded plinth and capping on the base. It has flattened lyre ends adorned with a swag and shell at the base on the west side, and a cartouche on the east side. The sides have plain sunk inscription panels with eared corners, although the inscriptions are indecipherable. At the time of the survey in November 1984, the base was noted to be breaking up on the south side.
