Description

This is an unidentified chest tomb located about 9 meters north of the north-east pier of the porch in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top, a moulded plinth, and capping. The ends are shaped like lyres with relief returns and two cherub heads on either side of an open book. The south side has a raised rectangular inscription panel surrounded by an egg and dart moulded border, while the north side is divided into two plain square panels. At the time of the survey in November 1984, the tomb was partially overgrown.
