Description

The Jones Monument is a chest tomb located about 4 meters north of the Thorpe Monument in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin. It commemorates John Jones, who died in 1771. The tomb is made of limestone and features a flat top with a moulded plinth and capping on a tooled base. It has gadrooned quarter balusters with end cartouches. The sides of the tomb have shallow sunk rectangular inscription panels that are flanked by relief foliage strips.
