Description
The Jones monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, about 20 meters south-south-east of the southeast corner of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary. It commemorates Thomas Jones, who died in 1802. The tomb is made of stone and features a lid with swept weathering and a moulded edge. It has quarter-rectangular corner balusters with fluted stems and gadrooning below. The north face has a raised moulded margin surrounding a panel and a raised oval for lettering, along with corner paterae. The south face is similar but lacks the paterae, and both ends have fielded panels. The tomb has a moulded base and includes later inscriptions added in 1883.
