Description

This is a chest tomb from the mid 18th century, located about 2 meters north of the Thorpe Monument in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin. It is made of limestone and features a flat top with moulded capping, although there is no visible plinth. The corners are designed with quarter balusters, and there are oval end panels. The north side has a plain rectangular fielded panel, while the south side features a large oval panel with foliage spandrels, which is slightly falling outward. At the time of the survey in November 1984, the tomb was partially overgrown and sinking to the south.
