Description

A pair of Pick monuments, located about 6 meters southeast of the Ghosley Monument in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, date from the 18th century. These two chest tombs commemorate Daniel Pick, who died in 1775, and another Pick who died in 1799. They are made of limestone and feature flat tops with moulded plinths and capping on narrow bases.

The southern tomb has gadrooned quarter balusters, ends adorned with a cartouche, and a cherub head with wings on the west side. Its sides display large rectangular fielded panels with eared corners and rosettes on the south side. At the time of the survey in November 1984, this tomb was leaning to the southwest and its base was breaking up.

The northern tomb has indented corners, with ends featuring a plain frieze that includes an urn and palm relief on the west side and a plain shield on the east. Its sides also have fielded rectangular panels with fluted quadrant corners.
