Ghosley Monument,About 6M East-South-East Of Watts Monument In Churchyard Of Church Of St Mary The Virgin

The Ghosley Monument is a chest tomb located about 6 meters east-south-east of the Watts Monument in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. It dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded capping and a plain base, lacking a plinth. The corners are designed with quarter balusters, while the end panels display an oval shape on the east side and a cartouche on the west side. The south side of the tomb has a large oval with floral spandrels, although the inscription has been obliterated. On the north side, there are two rectangular panels that contain later 19th-century inscriptions related to the Ghosley family.
