ST 69 NE BERKELEY CHURCH LANE (Inset, Section E) (south side)

10/99 2 unidentified monuments, about 2m north of Watts Monument in churchyard of Church of St. Mary the Virgin.

GV II -

Chest tombs, early/mid C18 to south, late C17 to north. Limestone. Flat tops, moulded plinth and capping on base to south. Both built up on bricks to west. To south: Indented corners. Fluted frieze with rosettes. Ends have crossed key and torch to west, semi- obliterated device to east. Sides have ovals with rosettes in spandrels. Frieze breaking up badly to east. To north: Recessed panels, sides divided in 2, with relief strips between. Breaking up on north side.
