Description

This is a chest tomb from the late 18th century, located about 1 meter south of the Hopkins monument in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. It is made of limestone and features a flat top with a moulded plinth and capping on a tooled base. The corners are designed with quarter balusters, and there is a cartouche on the west end, while the east end is plain. The south side has a large moulded oval with small rosettes in the spandrels, and the north side contains a large inscription panel surrounded by low relief carvings, although much of this has eroded over time.
