Description

The Gastrell Monument is a chest tomb located about 12.5 meters north of the Tayler Monument in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin. It commemorates Edward Gastrell, who died in 1767. The monument is made of limestone and features a slightly tented top, an unmoulded plinth, and capping on a tooled base. It has reeded corner piers and plain rectangular panels with quadrant corners on all sides. As of November 1984, the south side was leaning.
