Description
The Pickering monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard about 9 meters east of the southeast corner of the chancel at the Church of St. Andrew. It commemorates Joseph Pickering, who died in 1804, and is made of stone. The tomb features a pyramid top with a double step leading to the lid and has a moulded edge. The frieze displays alternating fluting and oval paterae, while the sides have a raised oval rim with paterae in the corners. The north and south sides are slightly different from the east and west sides. The monument has a moulded base and indented corners throughout. The inscription includes Gothic lettering in the first line, painted in black.
