Description

Orchard View is a small detached house dating from the 17th century, with 19th-century additions. It features a timber frame, brick on the gable end and chimney stack, and a back that has been rebuilt in brick. The roof is covered with replacement concrete tiles. The house consists of two rooms on a single storey with an attic, and it has a single-storey kitchen wing at the rear. There is also a former stable with a loft above at the east end. The front elevation has small framing on a lias plinth, with scattered fenestration that includes two small casements and one small staircase casement positioned high. A very low plank door leads to the former stable. The west gable end is notable for its large projecting chimney stack, which has two diagonal shafts. The back elevation, rebuilt in brick, features two windows with cambered arches and timber casements, along with a central cambered arched doorway that contains a four-panel door. There is a 20th-century glazed porch and lean-to, as well as two gabled roof dormers. The east gable end has small framing on a lias plinth and includes a loft doorway with a plank door.
