Description

MINSTERWORTH CHURCH LANE SO 71 NE (south side) 5/94 Purton monument, in churchyard, about 4m south-east of south-east corner of chancel, Church of St. Peter GV II Chest tomb. Thomas Purton, died 1769. Flat lid, simple chamfer; north side rococo carving, winged cherub's head in centre, decorative carving to ends panel: framed each end by hanging leaves and flowers. South side badly weathered, drapery to ends. Quarter-square gadrooned corner balusters, carving to stem; ends hour glass, in serpent of eternity, palm fronds, whole on a stand.
