Description

A late 18th-century gazebo and garden walls, part of Minsterworth Court. The garden walls run approximately 25 metres from the house and gazebo, framing the east and west sides of a tapering garden that terminates with a ha-ha at the river's edge. The gazebo is situated about 4 metres east of the main house. It is a square structure with double French doors, a fanlight, and a segmental brick arch with stone springers and keystone. A plain parapet tops the gazebo, behind which sits a pyramid roof. The garden walls on either side of the house are approximately storey height, with plain stone coping. The wall on the right sweeps down at its end to below half height. A similar wall runs from the rear of a service wing on the left, mirroring the right-hand wall, but includes a doorway cut through partway along its length. The walls converge at the river end, linked by a ha-ha featuring a stone wall on the house side with central steps set back behind the wall's face. The walling is primarily Flemish bond brickwork with a stone plinth to the gazebo, and flat, random rubble for the ha-ha walls. The ha-ha steps are slate. The garden's tapering design creates a perspective effect. The arrangement forms a group with the main Minsterworth Court building.
