Description
Fish House opposite Duni Farm is a draft-net fish house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features Flemish bond brickwork with a slag block plinth on the roadside and a concrete block plinth on the riverside, topped with a clay plain tile roof. This small single-cell structure includes a large open fireplace at one end and an upper loft level, with a square stack at the south end.
On the river (east) front, there is a blocked door and a blocked window opening, which now have two ventilation slits, each with a cambered head. The north gable has a square opening to the loft above a larger opening with a segmental head. The roadside has a plain wall with a single plank door. Inside, the building retains a full-width cambered wood bressumer over the open fireplace and features an upper floor. The eaves have a three-course projecting brick cornice. This building is one of the very few remaining structures from the former salmon fishing activity along this part of the River Severn and is set into the raised river embankment.
