Description
Frampton Lodge is a detached house located in Frampton-on-Severn, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with later enlargements in the late 18th to early 19th century. The building is constructed of brick on a brick plinth, topped by a roof that is not visible behind a low parapet with stone coping above a moulded painted modillion cornice. The corners feature painted alternating chamfered quoins, likely made of stone. Originally, the house had brick end stacks, with an additional stack on the left, all featuring a dentil course at the base of the cap and ornamental chimney pots. The verges are swept up to the stacks.
The house has a single range of three storeys and later rear wings, consisting of seven bays. Originally, there were only four bays on the right, and it may have been only two storeys high, as indicated by a slight colour change in the brick between the first and second floors. The building was extended to the left by three bays to match the original structure, and the entrance door was moved from bay three of the original block to bay one, which is now centrally placed.
The windows include six-pane sashes on the second floor and 12-pane sashes on the first and ground floors, all featuring painted keystones and wide voussoirs. The doorcase is adorned with a small moulded wooden pediment on consoles and a shallow decoratively glazed transom light above double doors, each with four fielded panels, accessed by two moulded stone steps.
