Description
Russell House is a detached house, likely dating from the early 18th century, with later additions to the rear in the late 19th or early 20th century. The house is constructed of painted brick, with a hipped roof covered in concrete tiles and a brick ridge stack slightly offset to the left of the front door, featuring grouped flues. It comprises a main single range of two storeys and an attic.
The house has a lobby entry plan and six windows, each with two lights, leaded wood mullions and transoms. A two-brick string course runs horizontally above the windows. A moulded wood eaves cornice runs along the top of the house. There are three gabled dormers in the roof, each with two leaded lights; the central dormer features shaped bargeboards.
A large, projecting porch, dated to the late 19th or early 20th century, extends from the third bay of the front elevation. The porch is gabled and largely glazed, with an outer door consisting of six recessed moulded panels, incorporating squares set as diamonds within the top two panels. The front gable overhangs the porch and has a central section supported by consoles, with a raised cartouche containing initials and a monogram in the apex.
