Description
The barn at Manor Farm, likely originally built as a wool warehouse, dates from the mid to late 16th century. It features very regular small square panel timber-framing set on an ashlar plinth. The barn has mostly roughcast faced infill, with some areas of daub and wattle, as well as some brick infill with vent holes on the right side of the south elevation. The roof is made of stone slate on the left side, while the south side is covered in double Roman tiles.
In the center of the south side, there is a projecting gabled cart entry with a boarded gable, along with opposed low-level flush entries, both fitted with double wooden doors. Inside, there is a stone flag floor and a first floor on the west side. The barn comprises seven bays, featuring arched braced tie beams with collar beams, trenched purlins, and two lower tiers with arched wind bracing. Square pitch holes are present at each gable end. There is a small building attached to the southwest corner with a pitched roof, which is not of special interest.
